Dr. Roger Gollub Rookie of the Year Award
For several years Diane Abrahams-Gollub has donated the Rookie of the Year of the award in memory of her late husband Dr. Roger Gollub.
Dr. Roger Gollub died November 19,2008. He was killed by a snowmachine during his much anticipated first run driving a dog sled team outside Kotzebue, Alaska.
Dr. Gollub began his 25 year career with the Indian Health Service in Gallup, New Mexico. He served as the area epidemiologist for the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service. In 2001, the Gollub family moved to Anchorage. Dr. Gollub served as a primary care pediatrician at Alaska Native Medical Center caring for approx 1600 Alaska Native children, many with complex needs. Dr. Gollub began traveling to Kotzebue, Alaska .
