Elizabeth Niiqsik Ferguson was born and raised in Kotzebue, Alaska. Liz works for the Northwest Arctic Borough. In the last several years, Liz has done various work for her community and region and has worked closely with the youth to help culminate young leaders. She spends her free-time volunteering for the Kotzebue Volunteer Fire Department and perpetuating cultural activities such as ice-fishing, hunting, learning her native Inupiaq language, and more recently dog-mushing with local mushers. This is Elizabeth's first year as a board member and she looks forward to learning more about the sport, the mushers, and how to continue the legacy of our mushers in the Arctic.
