Jim Bourquin was born in Seattle, and grew up in Eastern Washington. He began mushing and racing in 2006, which is also when 'he lost his mind,' in his words. He came to Kotzebue in 2009, and competed in the Kobuk 440 for the first time in 2010. He has also competed in the local Taaqpak 120, the Solstice 100, the Two Rivers 200 Chatanika Challenge, and the Arctic Circle Championships. He belongs to Orion Kennel, which houses 24 dogs, including lead dogs Chewbacha, Ursa, and Biggie. Bourquin is sponsored by Matt Bergan. He would like to thank his family for their support.
