Martin Early has been following dog mushing from his home country of New Zealand for over 30 years. In 2019, he came to Alaska with the intention of learning the sport and someday running the Iditarod. He has spent some of the last two winters at Jeff King’s kennel, Husky Homestead, preparing to run Iditarod qualifiers. This is his third time flying back to Alaska from New Zealand, this time to run the Kobuk 440. His team will be composed of “B team” dogs from Jeff King’s kennel. He completed the Ididn’trod 200 in 2021. He would like to thank Jeff King, Amanda Otto, and his wife, Sarah.
