Larry Daugherty from Seavey's Iditarod Racing Kennel is a 5 time Iditarod Veteran.
Larry became involved in mushing when his Grandma became obsessed with dog mushing after Libby Riddles won the Iditarod he says "I was 10 years old and she planted a seed that I would somehow move to Alaska to compete in the Iditarod. Eventually, after completing medical school and residency, my incredible wife Prairie agreed to relocate our family from Florida to accomplish my dream. I am forever grateful for her sacrifice and for the support and encouragement of my entire family - including my sisters and my parents who have cheered me on over the years. Very excited to be doing the Kobuk for the first time - and now with my son Calvin, who completed the Iditarod in 2025. It's just incredible to me that we are now a multi-generational mushing family!" Larry would like to thank Mitch Seavey, son Calvin, and Sadie Lindquist for getting him to the starting line. |
