Emily Ford hails from Minnesota. Fairly new to competitive mushing, she ran the Goosebay 150 for the first time in 2023 and is ready to take on the challenge of a longer distance. She initially wanted to just hang out with sled dogs and didn’t know anything about mushing but ended up on a five-day backcountry expedition with Canadian Inuit dogs and got the “dog bug”. She was offered the opportunity to come to Alaska to work at Shameless Huskies kennel and she is now in her second year handling there. Some key dogs on her team are Groom and Laurakins. Her husky from Minnesota will be running with her as well. She loves adventures with dogs and has heard the Kobuk 440 is a really good adventure. She would like to thank her late grandparents, who have both passed in recent years. Without them, her love of winter and many of her skillsets would not exist. She would like to say, “Elva and Roger, I love you heaps, thank you for being such a huge part of my life.”
