Please view the plan and timeline for the process here. Changes to the entry process: There is a cap of 10 mushers from outside of the Northwest Arctic. We will use a waitlist for entries received after 10. We will not take entry fees until after the early entry deadline of March 18th. The 2021 Race Rules will be made available along with the final COVID-19 Policies on Feb. 15. Our plan is subject to change at any time given the uncertainty of COVID-19. We appreciate your patience with the Racing Association as we navigate race planning and ensuring the safety of Northwest Arctic residents. From the draft plan: Testing Mushers, race officials, and volunteers will be identified prior to the race and must provide proof of a negative result from a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the race OR proof of vaccination OR proof that you have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days. Documentation can be emailed to kobuk440@gmail.com. Travel The Racing Association has changed their cap on musher entries to 10 mushers from outside of the Northwest Arctic. All travelers must provide proof of a negative result from a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of travel OR proof of vaccination OR proof that you have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days Upon arrival in Kotzebue each visitor may undergo additional tests in accordance with City of Kotzebue guidance. If you feel ill or are experiencing symptoms consistent with Covid-19 we urge you to not travel to Kotzebue, even if you have a recent negative test. Registration fees will be refunded for any musher who cannot race because of a positive test or because they have symptoms consistent with Covid-19.
