Jeff Deeter became interested in mushing when he lived in Noorvik as a kid, having first witnessed the magic of the Kobuk 440 around age six or seven. He began mushing at the age of 15, and completed his first Iditarod at 19. After spending about ten years competing in mid-distance races while developing a mushing tour business with his wife and fellow musher, KattiJo, he returned to the Iditarod and reached a top finish of 12th place in 2021. He has also competed in the Copper Basin 300 and Knik 200. Jeff is excited to see the beautiful country of Alaska's Kobuk Valley, and mush through an area he hasn't seen for many years. He is also looking forward to seeing friendly and supportive people along the trail, and ending the race with a happy and healthy team. He would like to thank his wonderful wife for supporting him as a musher, and for being his partner in life.
