Jody Potts-Joseph was raised “in the basket of a dog sled” and started running on her own team when she was 8 or 9. She had a dog team at different points of her adult life, guiding and training dogs for other mushers. When asked what got her involved in mushing, she said "It's part of our culture and way of life. Our people had dog teams for many generations before me. Being out on the trail is my favorite place to be." She started her own kennel in 2022. She ran the Two Rivers 100 in 2012 and 2024, the Yukon Quest 200 in 2024, 2025 winning second place and the vets award. Her lead dogs are Coki "a super enthusiastic and smart girl," Lebowski "another main dog, he can run anywhere." And the majority of her team runs in lead and are reliable. Tank and stormy, father and son are both super strong dogs. She’s looking forward to traveling through some new country, meeting people in the Inupiaq villages and hopefully finishing with happy, healthy dogs. Her team sponsors are Chenega Corp, the North Face, Hungwitchin Corp, Tanana Chief Conference, Quannah Chasinghorse, her parents Mike and Adeline Potts, Shār Snacks, and friends and family. She’d like to say Mahsi'choo to her sponsors, supporters, and family as well as Mahsi to her super awesome husband Jamey Joseph.
