Martin Early began following the Iditarod at an early age from his home country of New Zealand. In 2019, he traveled to Alaska with his sights set on dog mushing. He was lucky enough to find a mentor in four-time Iditarod winner Jeff King to begin his journey as a musher. Based at the Husky Homestead kennel in Denali National Park, Martin continues to travel between his home country and Alaska each winter to train. This will be his second time running the Kobuk 440. He learned a lot his first time around and is looking forward to returning to Kotzebue and the hospitable villages along the trail. He’s excited to reunite with the Husky Homestead dogs and have an adventure together, hopefully finishing the race with a happy and healthy team. He would like to thank Jeff King, Amanda Otto and all the Husky Homestead supporters.
